Sarah Gebretsadik

2012- Ethiopia

Sarah Gebretsadik is a 4th year student from the University of Toronto.  She is studying International Development Studies (IDS), in the co-op stream. In the fourth year of studies in the IDS co-op program, students have the opportunity to travel to a developing country and work as an intern in a development organization. 


This year, through an internship arranged through the Canadian and African Business Women’s Alliance (CAABWA), in partnership with the University of Toronto, Sarah has the opportunity to work with the Centre for African Women Economic Empowerment (CAWEE), an NGO based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.


CAABWA and CAWEE, along with various other organizations, have partnered to work on an initiative called African Business Women (ABW) Connected, the project that Sarah is currently working on. ABW Connected is an initiative with the primary objective to enhance the economic performance of women lead businesses throughout Africa.
